Opportunity to join Human Research Ethics Committee

The Human Research Ethics Committee is seeking volunteer members.

星空体育 is seeking volunteer members to sit on its Human Research Ethics Committee.

The committee meets 11 times a year and has four objectives:

  • Ensure human research submitted for review is designed with respect for the participants and is not compromised by the aims of the research, by the way it is carried out, or by the results.
  • Advise 星空体育 and research applicants on ethical issues relating to human research.
  • Evaluate and approve suitable human research proposals in line with NHMRC guidelines and Queensland Health policies.
  • Monitor and review approved human research proposals.

The committee is seeking members in any of the National Health and Medical Research Council Categories A-F, such as a chairperson with suitable experience, community members who have no affiliation with the organisation and who do not currently engage in medical, scientific, legal, or academic work, people who provide pastoral care in the community, a lawyer, and people with current research experience relevant to public health.

No experience is necessary to apply for a voluntary position and training is provided to all new members.

The 星空体育 Human Research Ethics Committee operates in accordance with the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007 (Updated 2018) (National Statement), NHMRC and Universities Australia Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018) and the Integrated Addendum to ICH E6(R1): Guideline for Good Clinical Practice E6(R2).
