Introducing Tugun Satellite Health Centre (Banyahrmabah)

Tugun Satellite Health Centre Women and Newborn Services

Following a state-wide consultation process with clinicians for the Satellite Hospital Program (SHP), the Tugun Satellite Hospital will now be called Tugun Satellite Health Centre.

A survey was conducted to select a new name after feedback that the satellite facilities' names were confusing.

The Tugun Satellite Health Centre will retain its Aboriginal co-name: “Banyahrmabah”, which when translated from Yugambeh language to English means “a place to be made healthy”.

These centres will continue to deliver the same trusted care including minor injury and illness care and outpatient services from dedicated nurses, medical officers, and allied health professionals.

If you have a health condition or injury that is not life-threatening such as such as simple fractures, simple infections and allergies, sprains, strains and minor burns, the Tugun Satellite Health Centre is open 8am-10pm, seven days per week.

Anyone in the community needing health care can access the satellite health centres, with minor injury and illness clinic offering a drop-in model similar to the emergency department while outpatient services are facilitated via referral pathways.

In a life-threatening situation, always call Triple Zero (000) or visit an emergency department at Gold Coast University Hospital or Robina Hospital.?

If you are unsure about where to go to, use the healthdirect Australia online symptom checker for advice on what to do next.?

For confidential advice from a qualified healthcare professional, call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).
